Fix: Error 0x80070718 Not enough Quota is Available to Process this Command

Several users are encountering the “Not enough Quota is Available to process this Command” error when trying to copy a file from their PC to a network folder. In most cases, the error message is accompanied by the error code 0x80070718. The issue is confirmed to occur on Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.

What is causing the ‘Not Enough Quota’ Error Message issue?

We looked into this particular error message by analyzing various user reports and the repair strategies that were deployed in order to resolve the issue. As it turns out, there are multiple potential culprits that have the potential of triggering this issue:


  •  Disk Usage limits are too low – In most cases, the issue occurs because the default Disk Usage limits are not enough to accommodate the shared files. Some affected users have reported that they managed to resolve the issue swiftly after raising the limits for both the General and Temporary space from the Sync Center options.
  •  Default Save location is on an SSD – As several users have reported, this particular issue can also occur if the default save location is set on an SSD drive. In this case, you can resolve the issue by changing the default save location to a traditional HDD.
  •  File or Folder corruption – As it turns out, the error message can also appear if your system is struggling with corruption inside some of the files or folders that are being used during file sharing (over the network). Some users have managed to resolve this problem by running the Windows file and folder fix-it.

If you’re encountering the same error message yourself, this article will provide you with several potential repair strategies. The list of potential solutions below is comprised of fixes that were confirmed to be effective for at least one user.

For the best results, follow the methods in the order that they are presented since they are ordered by efficiency and severity. One method should eventually allow you to resolve the issue in your particular case.

Method 1: Changing the Disk Usage tab limits

Most affected users have managed to resolve this issue by opening the Sync Center and increasing the amount of disk space that is allocated to both the offline files in General and the Temporary space. Most users have reported that they increased both values by the same amount.

Here’s a quick guide on how to do this:

  1. Press Windows key + R to open up a Run dialog box. Then, in the Run box, type “control.exe” and hit Enterto open up the classic Control Panel interface.

  2. Inside Control Panel, use the search function in the top-right corner to search for “Sync Center“. Hit Enter to search for it and then click on Sync Centerfrom the results.

  3. Next, click on Manage Offline Files from the left-hand side menu.
  4. Then, from the Offline files window, go to the Disk Usage tab and click the Change limits button. When prompted by the UAC(User Account Control), click Yesto grant administrative privileges.

  5. From the next screen, raise both the Maximum amount of space all offline files can use and the Maximum amount of space temporary files can use. Ideally, you’ll want to raise the levels to somewhere around 70%.
  6. Once the levels have been raised, click Ok and restart your computer.
  7. At the next startup, see if the issue has been resolved.

Method 2: Changing the default save location

Some users have reported that they finally managed to resolve the issue after changing the default location of the user folder. This procedure is specifically reported as being effective in those cases where the file showing the error is being hosted on an SSD drive. In most cases, the fix is reported to be effective on Windows 10.

Here’s a quick guide on changing the default save location on Windows 10:

  1. Press Windows key + R to open up a Run dialog box. Then, inside the text box, type “ms-settings:savelocations” and press Enter to open the Default Save Locations window of the Settings app.
  2.  Change the default drive that is used for saving from your SSD to the traditional HDD. To do this, use the drop-down menu associated with every type of folder found inside the Default Save Location window.
  3. Click the Apply button associated with every folder that you’ve just changed the default location of.
  4. Restart your computer and see if the issue has been resolved.

Method 3: Repairing Windows file & folder files

Some affected users have reported that they managed to get the issue resolved after they used the Windows file and folder problems fix-it to automatically diagnose and repair problems with their files and folders. This procedure will be successful if the “Not enough Quota is Available to process this Command” error occurs due to folder issue.

Note: This fix will work on Windows 10, Windows 8.1 and Windows 7.

Here’s a quick guide on running the Windows file and folder problems fix-it:

  1. Visit this link (here) and click the Download button to get the DiagCab file.
  2. Once the download is complete, double-click on winfilefolder.DiagCab.
  3. Once the File and Folder Troubleshooter is opened click on Advanced Settings and check the box associated with Apply repairs automatically. Then, click Next to move over to the next screen.
  4. Wait until the initial diagnostic scan is finished scanning your system. Then, from the next screen, check the box associated with Others or I don’t know and click Next once again.
  5. Leave all the checkboxes associated with each repair strategy checked and hit Next to advance to the next menu.
  6. Wait until the reparations are finishes – hit Yes if you’re prompted to with certain repair strategies.
